Morisawa Type Design Competition 2019

Archives

From 1984 to 2002, Morisawa Inc. held the “The Morisawa Awards International Typeface Design Competition” every three years on seven occasions. With awards given to excellent type design by a jury of internationally renowned designers such as Ikko Tanaka, Adrian Frutiger, and Matthew Carter, the competition gained high acclaim as a gateway for type designers.
From 2012, Morisawa changed its competition name to “Type Design Competition” and established new awards: Akashi Award and People’s Choice Award. As an internationally opened typeface competition, we will continued to seek typeface designers with new expressive capacity, bold ideas and new attempts.
